Burger sends Arwind to SMB
MANILA, Philippines – Arwind Santos, the former FEU star who placed runner-up in the PBA MVP race the last two seasons, has found himself back with his amateur mother club.
San Miguel Beer closed a trade deal with Burger King Monday night, acquiring the services of Santos in exchange for Marc Pingris, Ken Bono and a future draft pick.
Pingris is in a temporary layover at Burger King as he’s expected to end up with his old team Purefoods in a looming follow-up trade sanction by the Lina Group franchise.
The Whoppers are also set to acquire Larry Rodriguez from the Barako Bull Energy Boosters.
“We now have 17 players in the fold so we have to unload some. We’re to send Pingris back to Purefoods. But we still have to negotiate what we get in return,” said BK top official Lito Alvarez.
Meanwhile, Rain or Shine co-owners Raymond Yu and Terry Que told The STAR they’re getting Jeff Chan from Barako Bull.
