Aside from appearing in Dolphy’s book launch of his biography, “Dolphy: Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-isa,” Ms. Roces talked about the enduring qualities of his friend and colleague. “Binabati ko si Dolphy sa kanyang aktibo pa ring participation sa show biz. Saan ka naman nakakita ng ganyang tao na napakalakas at napaka-creative pa rin hanggang ngayon,” said Susan to reporters. Her homage to the King of Comedy brought back memories of her late husband, the King of Philippine Movies Fernando Poe, Jr. “Kung buhay si Ronnie, tiyak na isa siya sa mga makikipagsaya kay Dolphy,” added the soft-spoken actress. Dolphy is one person Ms. Roces cannot say no to. “Lahat ng kanyang hiling, bastat kaya ko, maibibigay ko,” she informed. It’s not only because they started their respective careers in the same studio, the Sampaguita Pictures, but more so, each one of them believes in their causes. Although Dolphy up to now doesn’t consider himself a political person, especially when most of the stars, major or not, throw their hats to the political ring--he became politically active only once: in the campaign for FPJ who ran for the presidency in the 2004 elections. During that time, the comic wanted to prove that movie stars could also lead the country but he wasn’t joining the bandwagon. Ms. Roces said she will never forget his support for her husband and she is forever indebted to his genuine concern for FPJ. Aside from being a friend and a colleague, Susan and Dolphy were also together in a memorable television show in ABS-CBN, “John En Shirley” with Maricel Soriano in 2006. The TV special "Dolphy At 80" will be telecast over ABS-CBN Sunday night at 10 pm, on ABS-CBN's "Sunday's Best"
