Premiere movie cable channel Cinema One features Dawn Zulueta in "Inside the Cinema" on August 12 at 9 p.m.

Hosted by Boy Abunda, "Inside the Cinema" catches up with one of the country's iconic actresses and beauties, the new and refreshed Dawn and why she continues to shine and remain unsinkable after 22 years in the movie world.

Listen to her insights as an artist, the state of the film industry, and life in general. Conceptualized to be an incisive yet conversational type of a show, "Inside The Cinema" has an exclusive carriage because this once-a-month show features the cream of the crop of the local entertainment arena. A personality study on the subject and the dent they made and their works that mark helped them become pillars in Philippine Cinema.

It is perfect for the show to feature nothing less than a respected and acclaimed luminary like Dawn Zulueta. A woman whose charm combines an appeal for the masses yet successfully certifies her for a wider audience.

Shot at the Blackbox Experimental Theater at the DLSU College of St. Benilde in Vito Cruz, Manila, the audience will be no other than the Digital Film students of the School of Arts and Design Division who were awed with how intelligent and lively her responses and banters were with host Boy Abunda.

Dawn rose to instant stardom and became one of the best actresses of her time when critics and producers noticed her undeniable presence in the 1986 Sharon Cuneta blockbuster "Nakagapos Na Puso."

Born Marie Rachel Salman to Jose Fazil Taleon and Maria Cleofe Salman in March 4 1969, Dawn attended the Karilagan in Magallanes and the Assumption College to finish elementary and the Colegio de Sta. Rosa for high school.

Though introduced to public via an orange juice television commercial, it was her toothpaste commercial with that radiant smile while clutching a tennis racket that mesmerized everyone.

Followed by a string of TV guestings as a dancer and singer showing the angelic face that features a pair of round eyes, the lilting speaking voice, alabaster skin and lustrous and frequently permed long hair that also started a trend, Dawn became an 'IT Girl,' but such image metamorphosed to greater levels when upon the encouragement of Viva Films' Vic del Rosario and Mina Aragon, she treaded acting.

She entranced moviegoers with "Pangarap Na Ginto" (1990) playing a battered single girl forced to prostitution.

"Kasalanan Bang Sambahin Ka" (1990) made her the perfect girlfriend to Julio Diaz who escaped murder narrowly from obsessive Vivian Velez, and received a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Gawad Urian.

"Akin Ang Pangarap Mo" (1991) followed playing an executive harassed by Dina Bonnevie.

The mega-blockbuster "Una Kang Naging Akin" (1991) is a love triangle where Dawn starred with Gabby Concepcion and Sharon Cuneta, where she won Best-Supporting Actress at Famas and FAP.

"In Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit" (1991), critics hailed her performance to be first-rate. The film became a landmark and described to be a Pinoy version of Wuthering Heights. It also became her trademark movie.

These and other films and projects that came after catapulted her into greater heights, as recognized by various award giving bodies.

Importantly, being an actress to reckon with despite the onslaught of new faces where hardly any of them can approximate the 39-year-old's classy stance, Cinema One is showcasing a number of Dawn's winning movies on Drama Studio every 5 p.m., a press statement said.

This starts on August 11 with "Kung Mawawala Ka Pa" where matters of the heart and painful secrets compromise her life.

On August 12 is "Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit" where she proves her love is just as undying than death itself.

On August 13 she becomes a mother almost entirely of a town whose hopes refused to be eroded in "Lahar."

On August 14 she struggles to erase her past for husband Richard Gomez and her haughty mother-in-Law in "Saan ka Man Naroroon."

Finally on August 15 she endures horrifying results of the pain of an unloved wife in "Patayin Sa Sindak Si Barbara."

Catch Dawn Zulueta on Cinema One's Inside the Cinema on August 12 at 9 p.m. Encore telecast will be on April 13 and 16.
