MANILA – Veteran broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez denied reports that she had arranged for a pre-nuptial agreement with finacee Sen. Manuel "Mar" Roxas II is because she is after his money.
In an interview with "SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon," Sanchez said that she chose to have a pre-nuptial contract to "make things clear and avoid complications." She insisted that the contract is a practical arrangement between the couple to avoid any financial squabbles in the future.
"Ako na mismo ang nagsabi kay Mar niyan. Kasi sa pre-nuptial diyan pinag-uusapan ‘yong ‘ito ‘yong akin, hanggang dito ka lang.’ At ito ‘yong naipon ko akin lang ito. I’m very practical about those things," Sanchez said.
The seasoned broadcaster added that although she is fully aware that the Araneta-Roxas clan are extremely wealthy, this is not what she is after.
"Marami silang ari-arian, ako hindi naman ganoon. Pero sa puso ko ang integridad ng aking pagmamahal para kay Mar ay guardiyado ko yan. Kaya gusto ko sabihin sa buong mundo na I don’t want his money," Sanchez said.
An excited bride-to-be, Sanchez shared some details about the upcoming wedding, including who will be on the high-profile couple’s guest list. She said the pair want the wedding to be unique.
"Gagawa kami ng konsepto na mukhang hindi pa namin nakikita sa kahit anong wedding," she said.
The broadcaster said that she has asked a crew of her close friends in the business to help her in planning the wedding, including Pepito Alba, Ino Sotto, Patrice Ramos-Diaz, Cary Santiago, Margarita Fores and Biboy Arboleda.
However, Sanchez declined to spill more details about the ceremony, which was reportedly slated for December this year. It was previously reported that the couple
"Hindi secret wedding ito, pero secret ‘yong mga detalye kasi gusto namin surprise. So ‘yon ang aming ikukubli siguro hanggang sa huling sandali," she said.
Sanchez and Roxas confirmed their engagement on ABS-CBN’s popular afternoon show "Wowowee" last April 18.
The veteran broadcast journalist continues to host her weekly ABS-CBN magazine show, "Rated K," every Sunday night.
