Kris gives up film to focus on her mother

MANILA – Queen of Talk and actress Kris Aquino said she is setting aside movies for a while to focus on her ailing mother, former President Corazon Aquino.

Aquino was supposed to be shooting a Metro Manila Film Festival entry for ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema with a working title "Ika Na Nga."

In a statement over her entertainment show "SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon" with co-host Boy Abunda, Kris said she already sent a letter to Star Cinema explaining why she can’t do the film.

"Unfortunately, because of our family circumstances now hindi ko pwedeng gawin iyong pelikula na sana ay kasama ako for the festival. Iyon. Things happen. So sana there will be another opportunity in the future," Kris said.

Kris, together with her family, is now busy looking after Mrs. Aquino, who is still confined at the Makati Medical Center due to colon cancer.
