Kris to Noynoy: Please stay single

MANILA – Celebrity host Kris Aquino is giving 100 percent support to the expected presidential bid of her brother, Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. She does, however, have one request – that her brother remains a bachelor.

In an interview on ABS-CBN’s Showbiz News Ngayon, Kris said she has already promised Noy that she will back his plans 100 percent, whether or not he plans to run for president.

“I told Noy: ‘Si Josh is 14 and Baby James is 2. Sila ang makikinabang kung maganda talaga then you have me talaga 100 percent. I also told him and I’m saying it now, sabi ko ‘I only have one request. Whatever is it that you decide please stay single.’ Naloka si Noy. Sinabi ni Noy, ‘Talagang OK, pinasok pa yon.’ Sabi ko: ‘No, I just really feel that you have enough decisions to make right now. I wish you won’t complicate life even further.” And sabi ni Noy: ‘Ayaw mo talaga akong tantanan diyan,’” she revealed.

Rumors about Noynoy’s lovelife have been rife after the death of his mother, former president Corazon “Cory” Aquino. During Cory’s funeral serviceon August 5, Kris even joked that she heard her son, Josh, tell Noynoy: “Please, Tito Noy, never get married.”

She added, however, that she and her sisters would be OK with whatever would make Noy happy.

Noynoy is currently dating Shalani “Lani” Soledad, a councilor of Valenzuela’s 2nd district.

Kris earlier introduced Soledad as Noynoy’s girlfriend during the Feb. 13, 2009 episode of “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal.”

Last month, Kris said Soledad is very much welcomed by the Aquino family. “Two hours po kami nag-merienda ng girlfriend ni Noy. She went to the house. My kids like her. She has the seal of approval of Josh and Baby James. And I promised Noy that from now on, shut up ako about his lovelife,” the popular TV host said.
