New markets open up for Philippine fresh produce — ECCP
Several Filipino companies participated in Fruit Logistica Germany last week, a trade fair showcasing export quality fruits and vegetables.
These firms were Flora Integrated Farms, Inc., Refmad-V Enterprise, Agrinurture, Inc. and Raspina Tropical Fruits, Inc.
The companies were support by the Philippine Embassy in Berlin, ECCP and the Agriculture department.
“We believe that fresh produce coming from the Philippines can be competitive in the European market and Fruit Logistica was the best venue to showcase the country,” said ECCP Executive Vice-President Henry J. Schumacher in the statement.
“During the expo, we have seen a demand for good quality fruits and vegetables from the Philippines in the world’s fresh produce market,” he added.
The ECCP said countries that showed an interest in Philippine farm products during the expo were Australia, Canada, India, Italy, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
Mr. Schumacher said Fruit Logistica “has opened a gate of opportunity for the Philippines to establish its growing significance as an international supplier of fresh produce to the world market.”
He added participation in the trade show “boosted the public-private sector efforts to further expand and diversify the markets for locally produced fruits and vegetables.”
Fruit Logistica is considered one of the leading trade fairs for international fresh produce and industry innovations.
