Filipino Jack Asis suffered a 7th round knockout in the hands of undefeated WBC Asian Boxing Council featherweight champion Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo of Thailand in a title fight in Samut Sakhon some 30 kilometers from the Thai capital of Bangkok.

Asis had lost a close twelve round unanimous decision to Piriyapinyo on April 13, 2007.
The rematch was a hard-fought battle in which the undefeated Thai dropped Asis with a cracking right straight in the fourth round.

Julian Turner of the Bangkok Post reported that Piriyapinyo dropped Asis after driving the Filipino to the ropes, but the challenger “fought back with plenty of success with hooks and uppercuts.”

Piriyapinyo, who has beaten a number of Filipinos, eventually finished off Asis with a vicious barrage of body shots.

The 24-year-old Piriyapinyo improved to 29-0 with 15 knockouts while the 26-year-old Asis dropped to 12-11-2 with 7 knockouts.

Asis earlier lost in a Pan-Asia Boxing Association title fight by a split decision to Indonesia’s Muhammad Des Afrizal at the Jakarta Boxing Stadium on May 10, 2008. It was the third defeat in a row for Asis.
