Vicki Belo gives Hayden morale boost
PARIS, France – Celebrity cosmetic surgeon Dr. Vicki Belo expressed support for her former boyfriend who appeared before the Senate’s joint committee probe on the sex video scandal Thursday.
“I think I’ll just say that I’m really proud of him because he’s really faced it and he has told the truth,” Belo said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau’s Rose Eclarinal.
She said that her former boyfriend, Dr. Hayden Kho, did not back down despite what seemed to be a brutal face-off with Katrina Halili at the Senate. "Everybody [was] hating him and making him feel so ashamed,” Belo said.
On Thursday, Belo apologized to the Senate for her failure to attend the upper chamber’s hearing on the sex video scandal, where she was asked to bare what she knew about the provenance of Kho’s sex videos now circulating on the internet and pirated DVDs.
Belo submitted an affidavit to the Senate through her legal counsel Adel Tamano, saying she is now in Europe with her two children, Cristall and Quark, to tape episodes of her new show "Belo 101." She said the trip had been planned in advance and that she would return on June 9.
Although the house where she is staying has no internet access or a television, Belo was still reportedly able to learn news that an angry spectator had doused Kho with water at the hearing.
“It’s been very hard to know. Parang in a way, he’s also being degraded, made fun of. So it’s painful for me. I’m not there to support him. But I’m so glad that he’s strong and he’s doing very well. You know I’ll just pray for him na lang. That’s all that I can do from here,” she said.

Dr. Belo admitted that it was hard for her to be away from someone she loves, who is now going through difficulties.
“I guess it’s a mixed of awa, but more care. I mean as I’ve said, mahal ko si Hayden. Mahirap talagang manood ng isang tao na mahal mo na dumadaan ng ganito. It’s really been hard. Alam ko kapag nandun ako, overprotective ako, so mabuti din na wala ako doon kasi kayang-kaya naman niya ang lahat ng ito,” she said.
Belo apologized again to Kho’s parents over Lolit Solis’s allegations that she had been supporting Kho financially. She said that the Kho family was well off even before she met the young doctor.
“I apologized to the parents of Hayden. I don’t know where all these stories come from. Wala pong kautang-utang kahit piso ang parents ni Hayden or Hayden himself [sa akin]. Wala talaga. They’re doing everything on their own. All the support I’m giving is moral support, pero kahit yun wala akong maibibigay kasi nandito ako,” she said.
To Solis, however, she said: "Manay, I love you. I really do. You’re like a mother to me. I hope we still stay friends."
She added that she is not so desperate a woman that she would pay to keep a man with her. “Siguro naman mayroon akong konting dignidad at hindi ko gagawin yun,” she said.
